In a recent interview at CNBC’s Leadership Forum in Paris, tennis legend Serena Williams shared insights on her transition beyond sports.

She detailed her ongoing drive and commitment to advancing diversity in the business world.

The four-time Olympic medalist, who announced her departure from professional tennis following the 2022 U.S. Open, rejected the notion of retirement, stating:

“I don’t like the word ‘retire’ because I have so much more in me and so much that I’m doing.”

Williams, a dominant force in women’s tennis for decades, highlighted the increasing recognition and visibility of women’s sports.

“Women have been around forever, playing, kicking behind, and really good at it. It’s not new, but technology now allows us to tell our own stories, showing not only great players but also personalities behind them,” she said.

The sports icon believes that this shift is fueling growing support for women athletes globally.

Beyond the court, Williams has been active in the investment space for over 14 years.

Her company focuses on empowering underrepresented groups by investing in women, people of color, and women of color.

“We believe everyone deserves a seat at the table. Diversity is about having everyone there, no matter their background or appearance,” she remarked.

As Williams embarks on this next chapter, she remains dedicated to using her platform to drive change and ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has access to opportunities in business and beyond.
