ShineMyCrown’s ‘Sunday Sounds’ Playlist

by Shine My Crown Staff

It’s Sunday. Some of us are heading to church. Others are heading to work and the others are looking forward to getting in some serious chill time before Monday kicks off another week of hard grind.

Today, we’d like to bring you with some dope sounds curated by the team. Our new “Sunday Sounds” playlist will bring you some of the hottest releases — and a few of our faves thrown in for good measure.

This month, H.E.R. released her long-awaited debut L.P, “Back of My Mind.” And let’s be clear… nobody does love (or heartbreak) quite like H.E.R. Love is a minefield. We put our hearts out there, hoping that the person we entrust it to will treat it as though it were precious. But let’s also be honest, it rarely ever happens that way on the first take. Sometimes not even the second or the third.

“Back of My Mind” is a journey for lovers. The ups. The downs. The joys and the crushing betrayals. And then somewhere in the midst of all of the late nights, lying awake, considering closing your heart to love once and for all (seriously, have the Kleenex on standby,) there’s healing in there too. So, we had to hit you off with one of the album’s standout tracks, “Trauma.”

Doja Cat also released her “Planet Her,” album this week. Critics have already hailed the album as a triumph. Doja’s mixture of sugary sweet pop (with an edge) and playful raps is hard not to like. She’s had her fair share of controversy over the past year, but her talent is undeniable.

Diana Ross also announced that her first album in 15 years, “Thank You,” will be dropping this summer — and premiered the album’s disco-tinged titled track.

A lot is going on in music right now. It’s exciting. We hope you enjoy this week’s playlist.
