Latunya Wright, a single mother from Georgia, is making waves with her ambitious project of purchasing 15 acres of land to build a private family community.
In a recent Instagram post, she shared her vision of creating a no-land-restrictions community where families can grow their own food and live without utility bills.
Wright envisions individual homes, possibly tiny homes, and a small commercial building that serves as a mixed-use office and warehouse, providing residents with opportunities to earn a living.
Instead of selling plots, she plans to rent them out to families, offering a unique and sustainable living experience.
Wright went viral two years ago when she announced her ambitious project.
Now, she is ready to turn her vision into reality by starting development on the land in the coming months. The private gated community will feature homes for Wright, her children, and her mother, with each family member having their own acre of land.
Streets will be named after family members and deceased grandparents, honoring their legacy.
The community will prioritize self-sufficiency, with plans to grow food on-site, maintain a small lake for fishing, and raise cattle for tax purposes to minimize tax liabilities on the land.
Wright is currently seeking professional developers in Atlanta or Georgia to assist with the project but she wants them to come onboard with the need for reliability, licensure, and insurance firmly in their minds.
Wright’s project represents not only a personal endeavor but also a larger commitment to sustainable living, community building, and honoring family heritage.
As she embarks on this journey, she hopes to inspire others, particularly within the Black community, to pursue similar initiatives and create spaces that promote self-sufficiency and collective well-being.
