During a recent interview with Nick Cannon, actress Keshia Knight Pulliam revealed her desire to play Janet Jackson on screen.
Pulliam was a guest on “Nick Cannon” to promote her hosting gig “Lifetime’s Married at First Sight” after party.
“This is my whole childhood. My whole puberty. From Keshia Knight Pulliam to Janet Jackson, it made me feel so happy,” said Cannon, in response to a picture of Pulliam alongside the pop icon.
Pulliam said she first met Jackson when she was eight or nine years old. “And I am like, ‘Listen, if I am alive and able, when you are ready to do your life’s story, I’m playing you,” she said. “[Playing Jackson] is my dream and guess what…if for some reason I am too old and can’t do it, I will be directing or executive producing something. I will be a part of this.”
“I dont see it. All I see is Rudy. Not sure who would be a better fit, but definitely not Keisha. Love her tho,” somebody commented under the video.
“That would be incredible. We need a Janet movie,” another viewer wrote.
Another viewer chimed in, “Hold up now 😂😂😂😂 u gotta have the moves”
Somebody offered up another candidate for the role: “Maybe Chili from TLC can play Janet. She can dance & sing.”
It’s fair to say, the reactions were mixed.
This is not the first time the actress has spoken about her interest in playing Jackson.
Pulliam also served as the narrator for the OWN Network’s “Eggs Over Easy,” a documentary which focused on investigating “the taboo of infertility in the Black community.”
Doctors and fertility advocates shared their personal experiences with miscarriage, IVF, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids and many other reproductive issues.
“I am so proud of this project and hope that it will empower, uplift, educate & help countless women feel heard and know that they are not alone!!!” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “The road to motherhood is not for the faint of heart… however, if motherhood is what you choose, the reward at the end of the rainbow is priceless!!”
