Stacey Dash has broken the chains from her past addiction to Vicodin.

Many people recognize Stacey Dash as Dionne Davenport from the famous 1995 movie “Clueless” or as a Fox News commentator in later years. Many people are unaware, though, that the 54-year-old mother of two has battled a prescription medication addiction for many years.

In 2021, the Clueless actress disclosed that she had a “serious addiction to pills, especially opioid addiction, on the Dr. Oz Show.

She said she felt that by talking about her ‘demons’ in-depth for the first time in a long time, Dr. Oz could “help bring understanding” to her experience.

Stacey Dash has revealed that she first tried drugs when she was just 8 years old and that she would take 18 to 20 Vicodin a day as her dependency on the painkiller progressed.

The 54-year-old actress, who grew up in the South Bronx in New York City, revealed that her parents were drug addicts and that her mother gave her her first line of cocaine when she was 16 years old.

“The Vicodin filled that hole inside of me. It filled that anger. It calmed that anger down. It slowed my brain down. It gave me the ease so that I could deal with life. That’s how I became addicted. It’s no one’s fault but my own.”

The former Fox News contributor also revealed to host Dr. Mehmet Oz that she had been molested when she was four years old.

Stacy Dash nearly lost her life due to her addiction. “My organs were shutting down, and my blood was septic due to the extreme infection in my kidneys.” That’s what held me back. I came close to passing away.

Stacey Dash recently shared in a TikTok video that she has since been sober for seven years, nine months and counting.

“Wow, thank you so much for all of your concern. I just want to say that I’m doing brilliantly. I am seven years and nine months clean. Yay. I’m going to start sharing here the journey of my transformation, my body, my mind, and my spirit.

“And I would love for you to take this journey with me. And I hope by doing this I help somebody else.”
