In an unexpected twist of fan interaction, SZA, the acclaimed R&B star behind hits like “Snooze,” found herself at the center of a viral moment when a fan reached out for help with geometry homework.
The fan, clearly struggling with their math class, decided to slide into SZA’s Instagram DMs with a plea for assistance. What they didn’t expect was the candid and humorous response from the four-time Grammy winner.
The fan’s message was simple:
“SZA, I’m failing geometry. Can you give me math tips?”
SZA, never one to shy away from a lighthearted moment, replied with a laugh:
“Lmaooo ma’am, I’m a math dummy. I’m not sure what you expected.”
The “Good Days” singer, known for her introspective lyrics, humorously added:
“Tell me about the shapes, chile. How can I help?”
The fan, undeterred, sent over a snapshot of their homework, specifically a section on “Finding Coordinates,” and admitted their frustration: “I just can’t do this.”
In true SZA fashion, the artist kept it real, responding with, “Oh b—h, you’re cooked.”
Despite not being able to solve the geometry problem, SZA appreciated the fan’s faith in her, sharing the exchange on her Instagram Story with the caption:
“I appreciate the faith in me.”
While SZA may not be a math whiz, her prowess in songwriting is undeniable. Just this past June, she was honored with the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award at the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards, becoming the second Black woman to receive the accolade after Alicia Keys.
Though SZA has been keeping a low profile musically since releasing her single “Saturn” in February, her album SOS remains a powerful force on the charts.
Nearly two years after its release, the project continues to dominate, sitting comfortably at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 as of the August 31-dated chart.
SZA’s humorous interaction with her fan not only highlights her down-to-earth personality but also cements her connection with her audience.
