Tia Mowry has spoken openly about her personal struggles, including mental health issues and a growing estrangement from her twin sister, Tamera Mowry.
Tia Mowry recently made a deeply personal and emotional revelation about the difficulties she is experiencing after her divorce from Cory Hardrict, particularly her strained relationship with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley.
During an episode of her new reality show, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act”, the former Sister, Sister star opened up about the challenging adjustments she has had to make since her split from Hardrict, with whom she shares two children, Cree and Cairo.
According to Tia, one of the most difficult aspects has been balancing co-parenting with her expectations of a traditional family structure.
“I feel like one of the hardest things that I’ve had to adapt to is dropping my kids off at their dad’s house,” Tia confessed. “I’ve always wanted the family dynamic of having a mom and a dad in one household, and when you’re dropping your kids off, you actually, visually see how that is no longer.”
The actress went on to say that this new reality has been especially difficult for her, citing the loneliness that comes with her alone time as the most difficult aspect of her post-divorce life.
“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” Tia Mowry continued. “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.”
Beyond the family dynamics, Tia discussed the emotional toll her divorce has had on her mental health. She openly discussed how she became fixated on the opinions and judgments of others, which aggravated her problems.
“I became fixated on what people thought, what people were saying, what people were thinking… And if I’m being very honest with you, it made me mentally ill,” Tia admitted, her voice breaking with vulnerability.
Many fans were shocked to learn that she and Tamera are no longer as close as they once were. The twin sisters have always been each other’s biggest supporters.
