Twin sisters Victoria and Gloria Guerrier, former valedictorian and salutatorian of West Hempstead Secondary School on Long Island, are making waves at Yale University.

The accomplished sisters, who have set their sights on the 2024 Olympics to represent Haiti, have already etched their names in Yale’s record books.

In a dazzling display of athletic prowess while competing at the Yale Season Opener against local rivals Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart, the Guerrier sisters showcased their exceptional talent.

The highlight of the event was the 500m race, where Gloria Guerrier not only secured the top spot but also set a new school record with a remarkable time of 1:12.41.

This accomplishment makes her the fastest in the Ivy League and the third fastest in the nation. Notably, Victoria Guerrier also ran the third-fastest time in Yale history.

The remarkable journey of the Guerrier sisters from being high school standouts to setting records at Yale has been nothing short of inspirational. Graduating as valedictorian and salutatorian with GPAs exceeding 100, they joined Yale in the fall of 2023.

Their prowess extends beyond the track, with participation in cross country, sprinting, and volleyball during their high school years.

Beyond their athletic achievements, the Guerrier twins have demonstrated a commitment to making a positive impact. During the global pandemic, they collaborated on a project for the Food and Drug Administration, co-authoring a research paper on Covid-19 preventive measures.

Their dedication to environmental activism earned accolades for a paper on biodegradable masks during a Samsung contest.

Gloria Guerrier shared insights into their innovative approach, stating:

“We decided to create our own masks that were biodegradable, effective against the COVID-19 droplets, and also cost-effective.”

Their efforts garnered attention from officials at the FDA and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, highlighting the twins’ potential for effecting change beyond the realm of athletics.

In addition to their academic and athletic pursuits, the sisters indulge in playing musical instruments, experimenting with protein-rich recipes, and enjoying leisure time with Netflix.

The Guerrier twins exemplify a harmonious blend of academic excellence, athletic prowess, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
