Actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish brought hope and relief to the Altadena community on August 8, hosting a free grocery giveaway at Super King Market for residents impacted by the devastating Eaton Fire.
The event, organized in partnership with Haddish’s nonprofit Diaspora Groceries, drew an estimated 2,000 people — including fire survivors and local families — who received fresh food and household essentials at no cost.
The Eaton Fire destroyed more than 40 homes and displaced dozens of families. Haddish’s giveaway was part of broader community relief efforts aimed at helping residents recover from the tragedy.
In an Instagram announcement, Haddish shared:
“Groceries are completely covered for anyone in need. No questions asked. Just show up. Tell a friend. Tag someone. Spread the word.”

The post, featuring Haddish holding a basket of groceries, stressed dignity and compassion, noting there would be no tobacco or alcohol, just wholesome, nourishing items.
KTLA’s coverage showed long lines stretching from the store entrance, with Haddish personally greeting attendees and challenging other celebrities to contribute funds to relief efforts.
Support poured in online. One fan commented, “Proud of you momma. Give them that Sagittarius energy.” Another added, “Amazing. Thank you!”
The mission of Diaspora Groceries, as stated on its website, is to bridge cultures, nourish people, and invest in communities. Haddish’s latest act of service is a shining example of that mission in action.
