‘Victoria’s Secrets Karen’ Under Investigation for Attacking Black Woman in Their Store

A video of a “Karen” attacking a Black woman in a Victoria’s Secret store went viral this week — and the brand says they are now looking into the incident.

The incident was captured on camera by Ijeoma Ukenta, in which the white woman, identified as Abigail Elphick, charged at her. Elphick then slips out after realizing she has been caught on camera.

Elphick begins crying and screaming for security as she sits on the floor, saying, “Don’t record me.” A second video was also shared online. In this video, she can be seen sitting on the floor and yelling, “Get the f–k away.”

“they took her statement first because, of course, she called the police. And she completely lied. She’s trying to say I started videotaping her causing her to have a panic attack, at which time, she followed me to try to get me to stop recording.”

“So, I’m filing the complaint against the two officers that responded,” continued Ukenta. “I didn’t feel protected. I’m also filing a complaint against the mall security.” She noted that Victoria’s Secret store staff assisted her, asserting its manager even sent someone to walk down to hasten security because they were taking too long. “So, I don’t really have any issues with them … not as of yet. Now, if they give us problems getting the video, then we’ll talk about that. That’ll be another story.”

Victoria’s Secret released a statement in response:

“Associate and Customer safety is our top priority, and we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all,” the statement begins.

“The video taken in our store is unsettling and we have initiated a full investigation. Our associates followed our protocols and immediately called our Emergency Operations Center as well as mall security for support during the altercation between our customers,” Victoria’s Secret continues.

“We are dedicated to continuing this critical conversation and demonstrating our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through our actions and our words.”

Situations like these are becoming more of a regular occurrence. Elphick probably freaked out about being filmed because she knew what would follow. She would be identified online. Her friends and family would witness her audacious behavior and if she has an employer… she could lose her job.
