An unidentified African American woman working at a law firm in Buffalo, New York, has faced discrimination after a white colleague questioned her use of a bathroom in their shared office building.
The incident, which was recorded on video, has sparked significant online attention.
The video, posted on the woman’s TikTok channel (@top_cat716), captures the moment she exits the bathroom only to be confronted by the white woman in the hallway, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“Can I ask who you report to so I can call the law firm?” the white woman inquired before questioning the Black woman’s use of the bathroom, insisting she should only use the restroom on her own floor.
Visibly frustrated, the Black woman responded:
“Why do I have to stay on my floor? Because of what?”
The confrontation escalated when the white woman threatened to call security but then decided to make a report in person by going downstairs.
Throughout the exchange, the Black woman maintained her right to use any bathroom in the building, noting that they both work for the same law firm, albeit on different floors.
The video has quickly gained traction, amassing over 1.2 million views.
Many viewers have expressed outrage, questioning why the white woman felt entitled to regulate bathroom usage within the same office building.
The incident has sparked a broader discussion on workplace discrimination and the treatment of African American employees in professional settings.
