Tracee Ellis Ross is doubling down with a full tutorial on her controversial travel hack: she only packs two pairs of underwear for trips.
The “Girlfriends” alum, actress, beauty mogul, and self-proclaimed solo travel guru has the internet buzzing after showing fans how she hand washes her panties while on vacation.
While speaking at the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Summit, Ross gave the audience a peek into her minimalist travel routine when she casually said she only packs two pairs of underwear.
“There’s always one bathing suit, a flip-flop, and one little dress I can roll up. And there’s always two undies,” she said, leaving the crowd and social media stunned.
When asked how she survives with just two pairs, Tracee didn’t flinch: she washes them in the hotel sink using shower gel. “If I’m gone for a month on this trip, you can’t pack a month’s worth of underwear,” she explained. “They take up a lot of space.”
And she meant every word. In a now-viral TikTok posted July 15, Tracee showed fans exactly how she makes it work from her hotel room in Paris.
“So, I’ve been away for quite a while. I don’t know, it’s been like two weeks,” she began, wringing out a pair of black underwear into a marble sink. “And I have a couple of delicates. How much underwear can you bring on a trip?”
What followed was an unfiltered, step-by-step tutorial that had fans glued to their screens.
First, she filled one sink with shower gel and lukewarm water, scrubbing her delicates as if she were a human washing machine. Then, she transferred them to a second sink filled with clean water to rinse. A little bar soap action. A lot of care.
In part two of the clip, she sat cross-legged on the hotel floor, laying out her damp underwear on a towel, rolling them up, then standing on the towel to wring out the excess water. “This fancy hotel has a heated towel rack,” she added with a grin. “So, it’s going to dry quickly.”
This little travel gem comes just in time for the release of her new Roku series, Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross, which premieres July 25. The show delves into how she embraces solo trips as a means of self-love, reflection, and personal growth.
