Woman Found Dead in Open Field, Boyfriend Mysteriously Dies Less than One Week Later

The last time Vickie Gill saw her daughter was on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Keniqua Dachelle King had told her mother that she was heading to take a look at a car in a Texas community next to her neighborhood of Rosharon. After their brief conversation, King disappeared.

Gill filed a police report immediately after her disappearance. Then on Tuesday, two days after she vanished, authorities broke the news that the 28-year-old was found dead in an open field near her house.

Local media has reported that King was shot nine times in the head. Law enforcement officials have yet to confirm details in the case as they wait from an autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office.

“It appeared that she had been there for some time,” Sgt. Clint Lobpries with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division told local media.

He continued: “We do have a person of interest at this point. We’re not going to release it due to the investigation. It’s somebody that’s connected to her. It’s not somebody that’s just out there killing people.”

In a shocking turn of events, it was revealed that King’s boyfriend died the Monday after she was found dead. Reports indicate that he was involved in a deadly crash a half mile from where her remains were found.

Detectives are now working to confirm if King’s murder and her boyfriend’s fatal accident are connected.

According to reports, 2022 has been the deadliest year in three decades for San Antonio, a city in Texas, three hours away from where King was killed.

And in Dallas, “there have been 147 murders reported from Jan. 1 to August 15, 2022, up from the 131 homicides that were reported in the city over the same period in 2021,” according to The Center Square. “The 12.2% year-over-year increase in homicides in Dallas ranks as the 22nd highest of the 91 cities reviewed.”
