At Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles, Zoe Saldaña delivered an emotional speech highlighting the impact of women and her dedication to Baby2Baby, a nonprofit supporting children in need across the U.S.
Sharing the stage with fellow honorees Carol Burnett, Amy Adams, and Bela Bajaria, Saldaña underscored the power of unity among women, saying:
“A woman brought each of us here tonight…when we rally for each other, there’s truly nothing like it.”
Saldaña’s commitment to Baby2Baby stems from a personal place as a mother of three.
She was introduced by Benicio del Toro, her co-star in Guardians of the Galaxy, and used the moment to pay tribute to the nonprofit’s co-CEOs, Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein.
She applauded them for providing essentials like diapers, formula, and clothing to children across the nation, calling them a “beacon of hope” for the 450 million items they have distributed over the past 13 years.
Saldaña lauded their “compassion, generosity, and dedication” as transformative forces in countless families’ lives.
Reflecting on the power of collaboration, she noted:
“Through their efforts, these women have shown that when people come together with a shared goal of helping others, anything is possible.”
This year’s Power of Women event, hosted by Leslie Jones, celebrated Saldaña’s philanthropic dedication and achievements in film, with Avatar and Avengers among the highest-grossing films in history, reinforcing her position as a leading voice in Hollywood.
