Wunmi Mosaku arrived at the 2026 Golden Globes, glowing, her cute baby bump wrapped in a dazzling yellow gown.

The Nigerian-British actress stepped onto the red carpet with more than awards buzz surrounding her. She was carrying a moment she had been quietly holding close. On one of Hollywood’s biggest nights, Wunimi Mosaku revealed she is pregnant with her second child.

Wunmi attended the ceremony as her film Sinners earned seven nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Drama. But it was her appearance that stopped people in their tracks. She wore a custom sunshine-yellow Matthew Reisman gown that elegantly framed her growing baby bump.

In a personal essay published by Vogue the same evening, Wunmi Mosaku explained that the dress was inspired by the Yoruba phrase Iya ni Wúrà, which translates to “mother is golden.” For her, the gown was both a celebration and a declaration. This moment belonged to her and to her child, together.

“I knew it was the right dress and the right moment,” she wrote.

Still, she admitted that sharing such a personal milestone publicly did not come easily. Wunmi explained that pregnancy is one of the few experiences she feels truly belongs to her, untouched by public opinion or industry expectations. Choosing to reveal it on her own terms was an act of agency, not obligation.

Born in Nigeria and raised in England, Wunmi Mosaku used her essay to go beyond the red carpet reveal. She spoke directly about the emotional weight Black women carry during pregnancy, a reality that often gets overshadowed by glossy announcements and glowing headlines.

“Being pregnant as a Black woman, you’re not just worrying about whether your baby will be okay,” she wrote. “You’re praying you will be, too.”

Wunmi Mosaku addressed the persistent fears rooted in medical bias and the very real statistics surrounding Black maternal mortality. She named the quiet tension many Black mothers live with, holding joy and fear at the same time, even in moments that should feel purely celebratory.

Pregnancy, she reminded readers, is not small or simple. It is intense. It is dangerous. And it deserves to be honored as such.

By choosing the Golden Globes to share her story, Wunmi Mosaku turned a red carpet moment into a statement about motherhood.
