Reality star Alexis Skyy is walking back her endorsement of Donald Trump after taking a closer look at both 2024 presidential candidates.
Initially vocal about supporting Trump, Skyy revealed on her Instagram Story on Oct. 19 that she has reconsidered her stance, particularly after learning more about Trump’s policies.
Skyy went viral after expressing her support for Trump during an interview with KISS 104.1, citing her belief that the former president brought “more money” into the economy.
However, after Trump announced plans to close the Department of Education if reelected, Skyy decided to reevaluate her position.
In her IG Story update, she explained:
“The interview I did regarding voting was done prior to Trump’s statement on the Department of Education. Initially, I wanted to vote for Trump for my own personal reasons. After familiarizing myself with both candidates, I will no longer be voting for him.”
Skyy’s change of heart didn’t go unnoticed by her followers and social media users. Many called her out for not doing enough research before initially endorsing Trump.
In The Shade Room comment section, critics pointed out the importance of being informed before making public political endorsements.
One Instagram user wrote, “The first mistake was ignorantly about to cast your vote without educating yourself in the first place!”
Another questioned why she hadn’t taken the time to familiarize herself with the candidates beforehand.
What Skyy Initially Said
In her original interview with KISS 104.1, Skyy acknowledged that Trump can be “a little extra” but argued that he makes things happen. She admitted that people have mixed opinions about him but believed he was good for the economy during his previous time in office.
