Wendy Williams is taking legal action to end the guardianship that has controlled her life for over two years.
The former talk show host has reached out to high-profile attorney Joe Tacopina—who has represented A$AP Rocky and other celebrities—to fight for her independence.
Tacopina confirmed on the 2 Angry Men podcast that Wendy contacted him after watching TMZ Investigates: Saving Wendy Williams. He expressed outrage over her situation, stating:
“Murderers have more freedom than Wendy.”
The discussion grew intense when TMZ founder Harvey Levin read a quote from Wendy’s court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, in Vanity Fair. Morrissey dismissed claims of Wendy being confined, stating:
“Nobody’s saying that Wendy can’t leave a building.”
However, Wendy has insisted she has been held in a 5th-floor memory care unit and can only leave with an attendant’s approval.
In the documentary, she revealed she was only allowed outside twice in 30 days—for dentist appointments.
Tacopina also touched on his past legal work, including A$AP Rocky’s trial and Diddy’s ongoing legal battles. Now, with Wendy’s team making major moves, fans are watching closely to see if Tacopina can help her regain control of her life.
