For many people, seeking medical care can be a hassle—long emergency room waits, packed urgent care centers, or delays in getting an appointment with a doctor. Sonita Lewis, a dedicated nurse from Detroit, is on a mission to change that with her groundbreaking new app, RUSH.

RUSH, which stands for Reliable Urgent Supportive Healthcare, is an on-demand healthcare service designed to connect patients with licensed nurses and healthcare professionals who provide non-emergency medical care directly in the comfort of their own homes.

Whether it’s wound care, IV hydration, post-surgical checkups, chronic disease management, or wellness visits, RUSH brings essential healthcare services straight to the patient.

“With the click of a button, we can get a ride anywhere or have food delivered at any hour,” Lewis explained in a recent interview Fox 2. “So why not health care? This is something that’s truly needed.”

A Game-Changer in Healthcare Access

The RUSH app, which is currently in its testing phase, is expected to revolutionize home healthcare by making it more accessible and convenient.

The platform not only allows patients to book medical visits with ease but also gives nurses and other healthcare professionals the flexibility to pick up shifts, reducing the burden of long, grueling work hours.

“The intimacy of being in your own home builds a stronger connection between patients and caregivers,” Lewis noted. “You’re in a safe environment, away from crowded hospitals where you could be exposed to other illnesses.”

Addressing Nurse Burnout and Work-Life Balance

Lewis, like many healthcare professionals, experienced severe burnout during the pandemic.

According to a survey by the American Hospital Association, 62% of nurses report facing burnout—a statistic that has remained largely unchanged in recent years. With RUSH, Lewis hopes to offer nurses a more balanced alternative to traditional hospital shifts.

“We want something that allows us to keep doing what we love without working 12, 13, or 14-hour shifts,” she said.

Expected Launch and How to Sign Up

The RUSH app is set to launch by mid-May or early June, offering a seamless way for patients to receive care while giving healthcare workers more flexibility in their careers. For updates and sign-ups, visit rushhealthc.com.
