Cori Broadus, the daughter of West Coast legend Snoop Dogg, shared the miraculous news this week that her daughter, Codi Dreaux, is officially home after a grueling ten-month stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The update marks the end of a harrowing chapter that began when Codi was born prematurely at just twenty-five weeks in February 2025.
The road to this homecoming was paved with exhaustion and uncertainty. Cori first realized something was wrong nearly a year ago when she headed to the doctor thinking she was simply dealing with a “bad case of gas,” only to find herself on an operating table for an emergency C-section. From that moment on, life for Cori and her fiancé, Wayne Duece, became a series of long nights in hospital corridors and the rhythmic hum of medical machinery.
While many families celebrate their babies’ first milestones at home, the Broadus family spent nearly three hundred days holding onto hope in a sterile room, proving that strength often looks like just showing up when you have nothing left to give.
Wayne Duece captured the raw reality of the NICU experience in a moving social media post late last year. He spoke candidly about the fatigue that “sleep can’t fix” and the quiet, heavy moments of holding hope together with praying hands. “This isn’t what I planned. This isn’t what anyone prepares you for. But this is where I show up.. every night, every morning, even when we exhausted in ways sleep can’t fix. I’ve learned strength doesn’t always look brave. Sometimes it looks like staying. Sometimes it looks like sitting in silence and holding hope together with praying hands. Daddy loves you, Codi Dreaux, my strong girl!!” He wrote.
When the day finally arrived to pack up their hospital room, the joy was palpable. In a video shared with her followers, Cori spun the camera around the room one last time, exclaiming, “We’re leaving!” with a level of excitement that only a parent who has lived through a medical marathon can truly understand. She later posted a photo snuggled in her own bed with baby Codi.
As baby Codi begins her life at home, surrounded by the love of her parents and her “Doggfather” grandfather, Cori’s heartfelt thanks to her supporters for “every ounce of love” reinforces that while they were the ones in the hospital room, they were never truly alone.
