Amber Hill, a former medical researcher, is driving change in clinical trial administration with her AI-powered platform, Research Grid.
This London-based startup, founded in 2020, just secured $6.5 million in funding, led by Fuel Ventures with additional support from Ada Ventures and Morgan Stanley Inclusive Ventures Lab. Research Grid’s mission is ambitious yet clear: to transform tedious clinical trial workflows into seamless, hands-free processes powered by AI.
Hill’s inspiration for Research Grid stemmed from her firsthand frustration with the overwhelming manual tasks in clinical trials, a process she found obstructive to the expertise of medical professionals.
“I was spending so much time on manual tasks that didn’t require any medical expertise. It’s a process that’s completely broken, and I knew it could be fixed,” Hill shared in an interview.
She saw automation as the key to freeing researchers from redundant tasks, allowing them to focus on patient care and trial quality.
Research Grid currently offers two primary products designed to tackle key inefficiencies in clinical trial management: Inclusive and Trial Engine. The Inclusive platform uses smart automation to engage and manage patient communities, and has already built a network of over 300 million patients across 90,000+ communities.
The Trial Engine platform automates essential trial tasks such as protocol development, data extraction, and study documentation, which previously could take months or even years in traditional Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS). This smart system, powered by AI, is engineered to eliminate bottlenecks and drastically cut down on trial timelines.
Hill expressed her excitement on LinkedIn, noting that this funding marks a significant milestone in her mission to improve clinical trial success and accessibility:
“I’m over the moon to officially announce that R.grid has closed $6.48 million to double down on our mission to make trials faster and more successful for everyone. I’m very excited for the next stage of our AI journey and what we’ll be able to unlock alongside our brilliant commercial partners.”
With Research Grid’s recent funding boost, Hill is setting a new standard for clinical trials, leveraging AI to empower researchers and bring cutting-edge healthcare advancements to the market faster than ever.
