Apple Watts Opens Up About Life-Altering Car Crash

Former Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood star Apple Watts is speaking out about the devastating car crash that nearly claimed her life in March 2022.

In a candid interview on Soft White Underbelly in February 2025 with Mark Laita, Watts revealed new details about the accident and the hard lessons she has learned.

Watts admitted that she had been drinking before the crash, which ultimately left her with severe injuries and partially reliant on a wheelchair.

“I was a little buzzed, but it was hours later. I guess I fell asleep and ran into a truck… I was going 90 miles per hour,” she shared.

The impact caused her car to flip multiple times before bursting into flames. She sustained a shattered spine, a broken arm, and a fractured skull. After being airlifted to Las Vegas University Medical Center, Watts spent four months in a coma.

“When I woke up, I forgot everything and everybody,” she recalled.

Now, nearly three years later, Watts is determined to use her traumatic experience to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.

“Don’t drink and drive. Lots of people died off of this stuff,” she warned, acknowledging that her past lifestyle had normalized excessive drinking and drug use. “I thought I was bulletproof,” she admitted.

Although the accident ended her career as a dancer, Watts is embracing a new purpose: motivational speaking. She hopes to share her story to help others avoid similar tragedies.

“I just want to save lives. I don’t want anybody going through what I went through,” she said.

Watts’ journey is one of resilience and transformation, proving that even in the face of adversity, it is possible to find a new path forward.
