Jana’s Cosmetology Academy (JCA), the pioneering Black-owned cosmetology school in New Jersey, has entered into a groundbreaking partnership with Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Fund, offering scholarships to aspiring cosmetologists.

Atiya Johnson, CEO of JCA, expressed her excitement, describing the moment as “surreal” when she learned about the scholarships sponsored by Beyoncé’s new hair care brand, Cécred, per a report by AOL.

Cécred, in collaboration with the BeyGOOD Fund, has allocated $500,000 annually for cosmetology school scholarships and business grants across five locations, including New Jersey, chosen for their diverse community of hairstylists.

JCA’s inclusion in the scholarship program underscores its reputation for excellence, particularly in textured hair courses, filling a gap in the industry’s training landscape.

Prospective students interested in receiving scholarships can apply through JCA, the Cécred x BeyGOOD website, and the National Minority Supplier Development Council.

The application window closes on March 20, with winners announced on April 20.

Additionally, salon business owners in New Jersey can apply for the Cécred x BeyGOOD Fund Salon Business Grant, aimed at supporting businesses facing financial hardship.

Applications for the first round close on March 20, with subsequent rounds scheduled throughout the year.
