Blue Ivy Carter will appear alongside her mother, Beyoncé, in the movie, according to the latest “Mufasa: The Lion King” teaser.
However, this won’t be Blue Ivy’s first time in front of the camera after being featured in several documentaries about her mother and father.
However, the Disney film will be her first time acting in a movie role.
The teaser trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King” dropped Monday, and it’s already making waves about its new addition.
The photorealistic-animated prequel to the famous 1994 film “The Lion King” brings back several of the stars from the 2019 Jon Favreau-directed remake of the original.
Donald Glover as Simba and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala are set to reappear, including John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner as Timon.
Another member of the Carter family also appears in the movie. In the new film, Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé’s 12-year-old daughter, plays Kiara, the daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala.
Other cast members include Aaron Pierre, who is the voice of Mufasa, and Tiffany Boone, who is Sarabi; Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka; Thandiwe Newton as Taka’s mother; Eshe, Anika Noni Rose as Mufasa’s mother; Afia and Keith David as Mufasa’s father, Masego.
The new film is directed by Barry Jenkins, known for award-winning films “If Beale Street Could Talk” and “Moonlight.”
“The journey of this film is kind of understanding how someone can build a family out of these very disparate parts,” he told the outlet. He also hopes this will inspire “how people who may be alone can find strength by coming together,” Jenkins discussed what inspired him to give Mufasa an origin story.
Barry Jenkins’s classic 1994 tale was rooted in his residence with his sister, watching her raise her two sons as a single mom.
The movie hits theaters on December 20.
