Coco Jones continues her reign on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart as her hit single, “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” secures its third consecutive week at No. 1.
This milestone makes it the first song by a woman in 2024 to hold the top spot for three weeks, a feat last achieved by Muni Long’s “Ruined Me,” which led for two weeks.
The Lenny Williams-sampling track not only marks Jones’ first No. 1 on this chart but also cements her status as a dominant force at R&B radio.
Released in May 2024, “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” first climbed to the summit in the Dec. 15 issue, following the success of her breakout single, “ICU,” which peaked at No. 2.
Grammy Recognition and Upcoming Projects
The success of “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” extends beyond airplay, earning Jones two Grammy nominations for 2025: Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
The song’s co-writers and producers, Wu10 and Cardiak, share the nomination for Best R&B Song.
Reflecting on the track, which samples Lenny Williams’ 1978 classic “Cause I Love You,” Jones shared with Rated R&B:
“I think the music inspired the song concept because… it feels like this orchestra and like a mystery… The mission, I feel like, is to be free from this person that constantly comes back in — to get over that hurdle.”
Jones’ highly anticipated debut album, set for release in 2025, will feature “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” as its lead single, along with additional tracks like “Sweep It Up” and “Most Beautiful Design,” featuring Future and London on da Track.
The album follows her Grammy-nominated project, What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe), released in January 2023, and her festive holiday EP, Coco By The Fireplace.
Chart-Topping Women in R&B
Jones joins a prestigious group of female R&B artists who have recently dominated the Adult R&B Airplay chart. Earlier in 2024, Mary J. Blige’s “Still Believe in Love,” featuring Vado, held the top position for a remarkable seven weeks.
With her undeniable talent and growing accolades, Coco Jones is poised to become one of the defining voices in contemporary R&B.
