Cardi B is back in court for her civil trial against a female security guard, Emani Ellis, who reportedly followed and recorded her at an obstetrician’s office.

The Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, took the witness stand to defend herself against allegations that she assaulted a security guard in 2018. Rather than sticking to the specifics of the case, the lawyer for the plaintiff began asking some surprising questions, inquiring about Cardi’s wigs, her nails, and even speculating about potential gang ties.

When asked about her hair, Cardi remained poised and answered, “They’re wigs.” The lawyer didn’t stop there, moving on to question the length of her nails in inches. Cardi replied that they were “less than an inch” long and described them as round, not sharp.

Many observers were left scratching their heads over how her personal grooming choices were relevant to the trial.

The lawsuit originates from an incident in 2018 when security guard Emani Ellis accused Cardi of physically assaulting her outside a medical facility in Beverly Hills. Ellis alleges that Cardi hit her, spat on her, and scratched her face with long nails, resulting in injuries that required plastic surgery. She also claimed that Cardi used racial slurs during this encounter.

In contrast, Cardi maintains that Ellis was the one who instigated the situation by following her and recording her without permission as she attempted to visit her OB-GYN. At the time, Cardi was expecting her first child, a detail that had not yet been made public.

During her testimony, Cardi recounted how she confronted Ellis by saying, “You’re recording me. Now you’re following me, like back up,” to which Ellis responded, “I can do what I want.” That’s when the argument escalated.

For her part, Ellis described the incident as “super traumatizing” during her testimony on the first day of the trial, stating that Cardi went too far.

The unfolding courtroom drama has sparked a flurry of online discussions, with fans expressing astonishment that a celebrity’s beauty habits have become focal points in a legal dispute. Ultimately, the verdict of the trial may depend on whether the jury believes Cardi was acting in self-defense or if they see Ellis as a genuine victim of a celebrity’s aggression.
