Embattled Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard Faces Eviction, Vows Action Against Political Opponents

Tiffany Henyard, Mayor of Dolton, Illinois, finds herself in an increasingly tense political and personal situation.

Facing eviction and mounting criticism for alleged misuse of taxpayer funds, Henyard recently hinted at plans to “seek arrests” of her political opponents, claiming her critics are attempting to distract from the “truth” about her administration.

She expressed frustration with ongoing scrutiny, claiming unfair coverage from “fake news” and pledging to reveal evidence of her opponents’ alleged misdeeds.

Henyard’s financial and administrative decisions are under heightened attention.

A report initiated by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot highlighted a significant financial downturn for Dolton, with the village’s general fund showing a $3.65 million deficit as of 2024.

Lightfoot’s investigation also revealed $33,000 in charges to Amazon and other retailers made with Dolton’s credit card, among other spending concerns.

Henyard’s landlord has filed for eviction after unpaid rent since August 2023, noting that Henyard and her partner Kamal Woods, who both earn substantial public salaries, have altered locks to prevent access to the property.

Despite these controversies, Henyard remains undeterred and recently announced her bid for re-election. Having initially won with 80% of the vote, Henyard’s tenure has earned mixed reactions, with some residents now dubbing her “the worst mayor in America.”

Henyard is simultaneously engaged in legal disputes with Dolton village officials, alleging procedural violations and misconduct among board members.
