Lil’ Kim is facing criticism on social media after posting a prayer for the victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. While the rapper’s intention was to offer support and express sympathy, her choice of words sparked a wave of backlash.

The 50-year-old rapper Lil’ Kim shared a message on the social media platforms X and Instagram, conveying her condolences for the individuals affected by the Los Angeles wildfires and offering a prayer that has since made her a target for trolling online.

In her post, shared across platforms X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, the 50-year-old rapper wrote:

“#PrayForLA. Been sending strong prayers up for LA and everyone affected by the fires. This is heartbreaking. I pray to Jesus that God make it monsoon in LA.”

Although Lil’ Kim’s compassion was clear, her use of the word “monsoon” left users stunned, given the term refers to a seasonal shift in winds that can cause torrential rains and, at times, devastating flooding. According to National Geographic, monsoons can lead to infrastructure damage, crop destruction, and widespread disruption—hardly an ideal solution for an already ravaged region like Los Angeles.

The post, which has since gone viral, quickly became a topic of debate on X. Some users applauded her sentiment, while others criticized her choice of words.

“A monsoon?!? God, you can ignore this one,” tweeted one user on X.

“Lil Kim, thank you so much for wishing another natural disaster on Los Angeles,” another person sarcastically wrote.

Another added, “This is what happens when y’all ask celebrities to speak up and comment on issues. Mama said, God send another natural disaster.”

Some people understood that, despite the poor choice of words, the rapper’s intentions stemmed from a sincere concern for those impacted by the fires.

“A monsoon?!?! She meant rain lord, rain! Not a monsoon. Bless her heart. She meant well, but we absolutely don’t need a monsoon; we need rain! Take her prayer off the list,” a user pointed out.

As reported by CNN, the wildfires have put 6 million residents at risk and affected 17 million individuals in California with a dust and ash advisory. So far, the fires have resulted in 25 fatalities and have devastated around 12,000 structures.
