GloRilla has officially claimed the title for the biggest debut week of any female rapper in 2024! The Glorious album has shattered records, solidifying her place among rap’s elite.
Billboard reports that the project, featuring singles “TGIF,” “Hollon,” and others, sold 69,000 equivalent album units within its first week of release, landing at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
Glorious has 56,000 streaming equivalent album units (77.98 million on-demand song streams), 12,000 album sales, and 1,000 track equivalent album units.
Also, GloRilla’s “Rain Down on Me,” with Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music’s featuring Kierra Sheard and Chandler Moore, roared in at No. 1 on Billboard’s streaming, airplay, and sales-based Hot Gospel Songs chart on October 26.
“Rain Down on Me” marks GloRilla’s first appearance on Billboard’s faith-based charts.
According to Luminate, “Rain” received 3.7 million official U.S. streams between October 11 and 17, propelling it to the top of the Gospel Streaming Songs chart. It also drew 2.3 million people across all formats in airplay.
Glorious is GloRilla’s first top-ten entry and highest-charting album thus far, following Life’s Great, which has the 11th highest peak, while Ehhthang has the 18th highest peak. The album also debuts at number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts.
“Last year, I was supposed to drop my debut album, but I was still getting used to things and working a lot,” Glo explained to Billboard about the album’s delayed release. “When the end of the year arrived, I had the project nearly completed. I was like, ‘OK, I gotta give them the mixtape before I give them the album,’ because I had gone an entire year without releasing anything. That’s why I said I’d give them the mixtape first, get them used to me, give them a sense of who I am, and then prepare for the album. The mixtape was effective and accomplished its purpose, preparing me for my album.”
On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, five songs from Glorious charted, led by “TGIF,” which rose 32-22 to a new high. The other four are “Whatchu Know About Me,” with Sexyy Red (No. 31 debut); “Hollon” (85-48); “How I Look,” with Megan Thee Stallion (No. 90 debut); and “I Luv Her,” with T-Pain (No. 92 debut).
