Halle Berry is refusing to stay silent about menopause, even after being warned that speaking out could hurt her career.
The Oscar-winning actress, 58, revealed during an interview on Today Show that some in the entertainment industry cautioned her against aligning herself with the topic, suggesting it could damage her image.
“Sadly, people said to me, ‘Are you sure you want to talk about that? Do you want to align yourself with menopause? Do you worry how that will affect your career?’” Berry recalled.
Instead of backing down, Berry saw this as a reason to push forward, launching Respin, a health and wellness initiative aimed at empowering women through midlife and menopause:
“I said ‘no,’ and that’s exactly why I should be talking about it. There’s nothing wrong with me being in my midlife. There’s nothing wrong with being 58, and you have to stop telling me there’s something wrong with me.”
Changing the Conversation Around Aging in Hollywood
Berry’s decision to challenge the stigma surrounding menopause is part of a larger movement where women are demanding open conversations about aging. In an industry that often favors youth, Berry is proving that women don’t fade away at midlife—they evolve.
Through Respin, Berry aims to provide resources, wellness solutions, and a supportive community for women navigating menopause.
“Women, we have to work together to destigmatize this time of life and change culture,” she said. “At Respin, that’s what our goal is—to support women from this time of life throughout.”

As menopause becomes less of a taboo topic, Berry hopes to lead the charge in redefining what it means to age in Hollywood and beyond.
