Candiace Dillard is proving that even in labour, glam takes priority! The Real Housewives of Potomac alum recently shocked fans by revealing that she hit the pause button on childbirth to touch up her makeup, delivering her baby in true diva style.
Motherhood has arrived for Candiace Dillard after she recently welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett, into the world. She took the baby boy to social media to share her new role with her following, including some interesting details about her labor experience.
The former star of “Real Housewives of Potomac” disclosed that she took a brief 10-minute pause to prepare herself before giving birth to her son in the early morning of October 3.
“My epidural had kicked in, I was 10 cm. dilated, and my doctor comes and goes, ‘Okay, we’re ready for you to push,'” Dillard recalled during an interview with PEOPLE. “And I said, ‘Well… if we’re going to get started, I would like to put my makeup because I need to give birth looking like something.”
For Candiace, this wasn’t just about vanity—it was about the first impressions of a lifetime. The former Bravo star said she knew they would be taking pictures right after, and she needed to “look right!”
“I know we’re going to be taking pictures right after, and I need to look right!” she explained. “My son isn’t meeting me looking haggard like I just gave birth. And I can’t be putting on makeup with my baby in my hands!”
“So yes, between contractions and pushes while I was in labor, I was doing my makeup,” Candiace added with a laugh. “I have pictures of it, too.”
The 37-year-old said her doula held up “a mirror and a ring light” as she focused on doing her glam with the doctor’s approval.
“My doula was there, holding up a mirror and a ring light while I was get my face right. I had pin curls in, so I was taking those out. And my doctor was so supportive. She was like, ‘Yes, let’s do it!'”
Candiace continued by mentioning that her husband, Chris Bassett, found the situation less entertaining, saying, “Chris was just sitting there looking at me like, ‘This chick is so bougie.’ He was just shaking his head. But make no mistake, if I could have had glam in there, I would have! It had to be this way.”
The confession, as expected, sent fans into a frenzy. Social media exploded with reactions ranging from admiration to pure disbelief.
