An American woman who traveled to Dubai to celebrate her 30th birthday says she is now stranded overseas and pleading online for help after multiple attempts to return home were canceled.
In a new emotional video shared on social media, the woman described feeling “broken” and desperate as she asked U.S. officials and media outlets to help her and others leave the region.
“I’m so broken… please, please, please anybody help,” she wrote in a post tagging The White House and several major media platforms.

Desperate Plea for Assistance
Speaking directly to viewers in the video, the woman said she had already purchased three separate flights on different airlines, only to see each one canceled.
“As you know, I’m the girl that decided to spend her 30th birthday in Dubai,” she said. “I’m coming on here very humbly asking my president… I’m an American taxpayer citizen and I’ve now been stuck over here.”
She said the situation has left her with no clear path home.
“I’ve been blessed to be able to buy three different flights from three different airlines and they’ve all been canceled,” she said. “It’s not even about the financial part. We just don’t have a way out.”
The woman added that she rarely posts emotional appeals online but felt she had no other option.
“I am not the person who gets on here like this. But I am desperate to get home to my family,” she said.
Birthday Trip Turned Crisis
In earlier posts about the situation, the woman explained that she and a friend had traveled to Dubai to celebrate her milestone birthday when regional tensions escalated.
According to her account, the atmosphere quickly shifted from celebration to fear.
“We’ve heard bombs from our rooms,” she said in a previous video, adding that her friend reported seeing a missile fly overhead while at the beach.
The experience, she said, has felt surreal and emotionally draining.
“It gets really emotional when you think about your family’s 9,000 miles away,” she said. “Very, very strange out-of-body experience.”
Watching Events Unfold From Afar
The stranded travelers say they have been closely following developments through news coverage while waiting for travel options to reopen.
“CNN has been our best friend,” she said, explaining that they monitor updates about airspace restrictions and regional developments.
Unable to leave, she said she and her friend have mostly stayed indoors, trying to manage the anxiety of the situation.
“We’ve kind of slept our days away to contain the tears that flow after we wake up,” she said in the earlier video.
Turning to the Internet for Help
With repeated flight cancellations and uncertainty about when travel will resume, the woman said she decided to publicly ask for assistance online.
“I don’t know who this will reach,” she said. “But I’m putting myself out here on the internet as humble as I know how to just get some help.”
Her story has begun circulating across social media as travelers and observers react to the growing challenges faced by civilians caught abroad during international crises.
