In a surprise announcement, supermodel Naomi Campbell has announced that she has welcomed her second child to the world.
In an Instagram post she shared with her 15 million followers, the 53-year-old said she now has a son. Her first child, a daughter, was born in 2021 at the age of 50.
“My little darling, know that you are cherished beyond measure and surrounded by love from the moment you graced us with your presence. A true gift from God” she wrote. “It’s never too late to become a mother.”
The British native did not reveal whether she carried the child or used a surrogate, although she did tell British Vogue in a 2022 cover story that her first daughter (who also appears on the cover) was hers and “she’s my child.”
She further said in the same interview that she encourages older women to consider having children if they desire to do so.
“I’m telling them all, do it! Don’t hesitate!” she advised.
As for being a mother, the runway queen said that she has found a new sense of purpose in life since becoming a mother.
“I always knew that one day I would be a mother, but it’s the biggest joy I could ever imagine,” she said. “I’m lucky to have her and I know that. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”
Although Campbell has officially announced that she is a mother of two, she has chosen not to reveal their identities. At the time of this writing, fans do not know the children’s names, birthdays or how they look.
Born May 22, 1970, Campbell has been regarded as one of the world’s most iconic models, who has graced the runway shows of just about every top fashion designer imaginable. She began her career at 15 and has since been considered one of the six models of her generation with the distinct title of “supermodel.” She is the first Black woman to appear on the cover of TIME, Vogue France and British Vogue.
