Actress Jenifer Lewis shared insights from her remarkable career while promoting her new Disney project, reflecting on a near-death experience that transformed her perspective on life.

In November 2022, while vacationing in the Serengeti, Tanzania, Lewis suffered a nearly fatal fall from a hotel balcony, plunging into a dark ravine filled with boulders.

She was rescued, airlifted to Nairobi, and underwent a nine-hour surgery to repair her fractured hip socket.

Her recovery included multiple blood transfusions and ten days in the hospital.

“I ain’t going nowhere, that’s why God sat me down from that fall,” Lewis said, explaining that the accident served as a divine message to slow down and appreciate life.

She said her dedication to her craft remains unmoved and stressed the importance of resilience.

Lewis, known for her role as Ruby on “black-ish” and her extensive career in Broadway and television, continues to inspire fans with her work ethic and passion.

Her new project, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” is set to open at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort.

The ride, based on “The Princess and the Frog,” captures the essence of New Orleans, which Lewis praised for its authenticity.

“They captured New Orleans beautifully. They captured the culture from Mama Odie’s beignets. You’ll see,” Lewis shared, celebrating the project’s dedication to representing the city’s vibrant culture.

Despite the challenges she has faced, Lewis remains a powerful force in the entertainment industry, showcasing her resilience and commitment to her art.
