Jenifer Lewis’s latest comments about Black and Latino men who chose to support Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris have reignited discussions about race, politics, and self-perception.
During an appearance with sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, Lewis delivered a fiery and impassioned speech about Black and Latino men who voted for President-elect Donald Trump.
“When your niece or your 13-year-old daughter is raped by an alcoholic brother or your next-door neighbor, and she tries to abort that baby inside of her from a rape, you’re gonna regret that,” Lewis said, highlighting her disdain for what she perceives as a rollback of women’s rights under Trump’s influence.
The veteran actor didn’t stop there. She expressed her disappointment over the lack of support for Kamala Harris, emphasizing the significance of her leadership qualities.
According to Jenifer Lewis, Harris’s potential to make history and effectively lead the country was overlooked due to gender bias.
“They didn’t care that she was smart, powerful, educated, beautiful, kind, joyful, and fearless,” she said.
“She would have taken care of this country. She would have protected the people. She would have surrounded herself with great minds. But keeping women in their place was more important to them.”
Lewis also directed sharp words at Black men who supported Trump, calling their decisions shocking. She warned of the repercussions for the Black community, particularly concerning Trump’s stances on law enforcement. “Honey, he’s gonna give the military and the police to shoot you in your back, and there would be no immunity,” she stated, adding, “Y’all done f***ed up.”
Unsurprisingly, Lewis’s remarks set social media ablaze. Some applauded her for speaking candidly about the implications of minority support for Trump. Others, however, labeled her comments as divisive and questioned her framing of the issue.
Jenifer Lewis has long been vocal about her disdain for Trump. In April, she called former President Donald Trump the new “Hitler,” who will put black people “in camps.”
She also added, “He will punish everybody that didn’t vote for him,” during her conversation with Zerlina Maxwell, the host of Mornings with Zerlina on SiriusXM.
Jennifer Lewis also claimed that Trump’s rise to fame in the political world is because many white people fear that minorities would outnumber them in the country.
