Former Vice President Kamala Harris is set to headline a high-profile fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on May 6 in New York, marking her return to the political spotlight following her defeat in the 2024 election.

The event, billed as a conversation between Harris and DNC Chairman Ken Martin, will serve as one of Harris’s first major public appearances since President Donald Trump’s victory last fall. According to an invitation obtained by The New York Times, ticket prices begin at $25,000 under the tier labeled “building the opposition.” Higher-level access, branded as “fighting for the future,” is priced at $44,300.

Harris has largely remained on the sidelines in recent months, carefully considering her next political steps. Possibilities include a run for governor in California in 2026 or a potential presidential campaign in 2028. Insiders suggest she is leaning toward a gubernatorial bid, though Harris has told confidants she won’t pursue both paths simultaneously.

Her return to the fundraising circuit signals a slow re-engagement with Democratic politics at a time when several other party figures are already actively campaigning and organizing in opposition to Trump. Among them is Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris’s former running mate, who has been appearing in red-leaning states and on progressive media platforms.

Meanwhile, other prominent Democrats are also stepping up. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is slated to headline a major Democratic event this month in Manchester, New Hampshire—a key early state in presidential contests.

While Harris remains less visible than some of her peers, her upcoming appearance in New York could offer a glimpse into how she plans to shape her political future and influence the Democratic Party’s path forward.
