Grammy-nominated R&B artist Kehlani is transforming the success of her hit single Folded into a hands-on act of kindness for single mothers across the United States.
Partnering with the nonprofit Current Initiative’s Laundry Project, the singer is launching Nini’s Fluff & Fold, a free dry cleaning program designed to help ease the daily burdens of single-parent households.
The event, named after the fictional dry cleaners in the Folded music video, will take place on August 9, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time at select laundromats in seven U.S. cities: Oakland, Long Beach, Charlotte, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and New York.
No registration is required, and services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kehlani, who was raised by a single mother, says her own upbringing inspired the initiative. Announcing the program on X on August 7, she stressed that it is not a promotional campaign, but a direct way to meet a basic need she has seen firsthand:
“Growing up, I knew how hard it was for all the single mamas in my family to get the tasks done on top of it all. Clean clothes is a basic necessity. I got y’all.”
With Folded trending across multiple social media platforms, Kehlani is channeling the song’s momentum into tangible community impact. She described the event as a “thank-you for sending this song over the moon” and a way to show love to single mothers who “deserve the world.”
To keep the spotlight on the service rather than on her celebrity presence, Kehlani will not attend any of the laundromat events in person. The move reflects a growing trend among artists who are leveraging their platforms for social good, turning personal milestones into opportunities for community uplift.
