Latto’s highly anticipated tour debut did not go exactly as planned. The “Big Energy” rapper was ready to give her all on stage, but behind the scenes, things weren’t going as smoothly as she had hoped.
Latto didn’t hold back when it came to discussing the chaotic start, describing it as “a hot mess” and informing fans that she didn’t have complete control over the situation.
On Wednesday, August 14, the Grammy-nominated rapper announced her Sugar Honey Iced Tea tour in support of her latest studio album, marking her first-ever headlining run across North America.
According to a press release, the Live Nation-produced tour will visit 22 cities this fall, beginning on October 25 in Tampa, Fla., and continuing to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Toronto, Detroit, Las Vegas, and other cities. The rapper’s tour will conclude on December 7 in Denver.
The 22-date tour began in Tampa with Mariah The Scientist and KARRAHBOOO; as anticipated, fans had a great time.
Unfortunately, Latto was not satisfied with how her first night went.
Shortly after her performance, she went online to give her feedback, emphasizing that the show did not go as expected.
In a video circulating on the “Georgia Peach” rapper’s fan pages, Latto expressed her excitement about the Sugar Honey Iced Tea Tour’s opening night at Yuengling Center.
“Show was a hot mess. Could’ve been worse. But, hey, baby, what can you do? I did my job,” she said. Latto kept it real, explaining that she held up her end of the performance while blaming the crew for the night’s hiccups.
“Lighting [crew is] getting cussed out. [The] video [crew is] getting cussed out. [The] wardrobe [team is] getting cussed out,” Latto added, making it clear that the technical and styling issues weren’t going to slide.
Latto’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea tour comes after the release of her third studio album, an ode to her Georgia roots featuring fellow Southern artists Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Coco Jones, Young Nudy, Flo Milli, Teezo Touchdown, and others.
Her next performance is scheduled for today (October 27) in Tennessee at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
