Lizzo just scored a massive win in the ongoing legal battle with her former dancers. Over the weekend, the highly damaging weight-shaming claims, which have haunted the body positivity icon since they surfaced in 2023, were officially dropped from the lawsuit.
Lizzo herself wasted no time in addressing the development, posting a powerful, defiant response via an Instagram Reel that confirmed the truth is finally beginning to emerge.
The weight-shaming allegation was withdrawn after a judge concluded that one of the former dancers, Arianna Davis, was actually fired after she secretly recorded a private meeting between herself and Lizzo.
Lizzo quickly amplified this fact, stating clearly in her video, “The fat-shaming claims against me have been officially dropped by my accusers. They conceded it had no merit in court.”
She clarified the real reason for the termination, completely debunking the narrative that she punishes larger bodies. “There was no evidence that I fired them because they gained weight. Because it never happened,” Lizzo asserted. “They weren’t fired for gaining weight. They were fired for taking a private recording of me without my consent and sending it off to ex-employees.”
For an artist whose entire brand is built on celebrating and uplifting bigger bodies, the weight-shaming claims were particularly devastating. Lizzo acknowledged the difficulty of enduring the false accusations.
“The claim has haunted me since the day it came out. It has been devastating to suffer through this in silence,” she confessed. However, she expressed gratitude for her legal team and confidence in the outcome. “I am so grateful for this victory,” she added.
This win removes one of the most explosive and damaging allegations against the singer. While she admitted she is still embroiled in a legal battle involving other claims, Lizzo made it clear that she is far from settling. “I am not settling. I will be fighting every single claim until the truth is out.”
