Many think Megan Thee Stallion hinted at ex-beau, Pardison Fontaine’s, infidelity in her new song, “Cobra”.
The Houston rapper also opened up about her mental health struggles on her first solo single of 2023.
Following her powerful 2022 record Traumazine, Megan Thee Stallion’s latest single seems to hint at one of the reasons why she ended things with Jordan Kyle Lanier Thorpe, better known by his stage name Pardison Fontaine.
The 33-year-old rapper ended her relationship with Pardison Fontaine in 2023 after going public in 2021. Even though neither has confirmed their breakup, the pair’s previous lavish display of affection has “mysteriously” vanished.
In the song, the Huston rapper seemingly addresses rumors that ‘Pardi’ cheated on her in the second verse of her explosive new single.
“Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d*ck sucked in the same spot I’m sleeping,” Megan appears to recollect the jarring incident.
Elsewhere on the track, Megan opens up about dealing with depression, struggles with self-harm, and suicidal thoughts.
“At night, I’m sittin’ in a dark room thinkin’/ Probably why I always end up drinkin’/ Yes, I’m very depressed/ How can somebody so blessed wanna slit they wrist?” she rapped.
Megan Thee Stallion touched on her healing journey, ‘shedding her skin’ in the music video, which may be linked to the shedding of her past trauma.
The Houston rapper charged, “Lord, give me a break, I don’t know how much more of this s*** I can take.”
In a recent interview with ELLE, Megan confessed that she suffered depression after the Tory Lanez shooting.
She disclosed that the incident left a sour taste in her mouth that messed with her mind and creativity.
“I didn’t feel like making music. I was in such a low place that I didn’t even know what I wanted to rap about. I wondered if people even cared anymore. There would be times that I’d literally be backstage or in my hotel, crying my eyes out,” Megan said in the interview.
