Melanie Harris has navigated a remarkable ascent up the corporate ladder at Nike Inc. over the past five years, culminating in her appointment as Vice President and General Manager of Jordan Brand North America in January 2023.

Her journey with the athletic giant has not only solidified her success but also positioned her as a beacon of guidance for women forging paths in the industry.

“In today’s fast-paced, dynamic world, being confident and authentic is incredibly empowering,” Harris told Footwear News. “Like a deeply rooted tree, adaptable to changing winds yet steadfast in principles, this authenticity ensures lasting leadership and impact.”

Discussing the importance of self-advocacy and personal well-being, Harris added:

“Prioritizing self-care enables us to bring our best selves to every endeavor.”

Beyond her executive role at Jordan Brand, Harris is committed to mentoring others, a role she attributes to the wisdom passed down by her grandmother.

“When I face challenges, I draw strength from my grandmother, now in her late 90s, who immigrated decades ago with small children to pursue a dream against all odds,” Harris reflected. “Her resilience, determination, and boundless love inspire me daily, shaping how I approach leadership and hope to be remembered.”
