Pennington, an accomplished entrepreneur and HR expert, stated that leadership begins with listening.
“Leadership is about understanding and listening, and empathetic listening, first and foremost,” she explained. “We are taught to read, right? But how many classes have you taken on how to listen? Not a single one. So leadership is about listening to your team and taking action and understanding, regardless of where you are with your team.”

“Having a safe place and psychological safety within your organization is essential,” she noted.
