Following news that Nia Long’s ex-fiancé Ime Udoka has just landed a job as head coach for the Houston Rockets, the actress has taken to Instagram to say she is not focusing on revenge.
In 2022, Udoka was suspended from the Boston Celtics for violating team policies after it was revealed that he was engaged in an affair with a female team staff member while engaged to Long.
“The best revenge is no revenge, Move on. Be happy,” Long posted on Instagram after the announcement was made.
She also thanked Stephen A. Smith for defending her in a video posted online.
“Even if they’re not together, that is the father of her child,” Smith began. “If you mention him and another woman, inevitably, she’s going to come up. How come nobody thought about the sister? How come they just left her out there standing on her own? I will always defend her. I will always defend her on this issue. How could you do that? You didn’t have to do it that way. But to have a press conference and put this business tacitly or otherwise on Front Street, you didn’t think about Nia Long at all. But you thought about the other woman, who purportedly was white. And the one woman in this equation who was innocent and victimized was not the woman that Ime Udoka was messing around with. It was Nia Long. She was the one screwed over!”
“Thank you @stephenasmith for your support. TBC…” Long wrote in the comments, adding that “the most disrespected person in America is the black woman’ – Malcolm X.”
It’s been a tumultuous 2022 for the movie star after her longtime relationship with Udoka came to a screeching halt, but it appears the Love Jones actress is starting a new chapter.
In a recent Instagram post, the actress showed her 3.9 million followers what appears to be a kitchen in a new house. She captioned the post: “Thankful for the gift of new places and spaces.” She has since deleted the post.
