We all probably say it every year, but 2017 has been a spectacular year for #BlackExcellence within the entertainment industry. Today (Nov. 28th) The nominees for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards were announced, and they cannot be accused of subbing people of color this year because the nominations are unapologetically Black!
TDE singer SZA, Rapsody, and Cardi B were just of few of the melanin-filled nominees. SZA racked up a remarkable five nominations for categories – “Best New Artist,” “Best Rap/Sung Performance,” “Best R&B Song,” “Best Urban Contemporary Album,” and “Best R&B Performance.” “Bodak Yellow” rapper Cardi B earned nominations for “Best Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song.”

Roc Nation emcee, Rapsody scored noms for “Best Rap Album” for “Laila’s Wisdom,” as well as “Best Rap Song” for “Sassy.” Considering Rapsody’s solid catalog, it’s a slight shock that these are her first ever nods from the Grammys, but they will undoubtedly be the first of many!
