Questions are mounting after a man who reportedly worked on the security detail of U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett was shot and killed by police following a standoff in a Dallas hospital parking garage earlier this week.
The man, identified by sources as ‘Mike King‘, real name, Diamon-Mazairre Robinson, was fatally shot by officers with the Dallas Police Department on Wednesday night after authorities said he barricaded himself inside a vehicle during a tense confrontation.
Despite the growing attention surrounding the case, Crockett’s office has declined to answer questions, and the congresswoman has not publicly addressed the incident. Crockett’s staff told CBS News Texas it’s waiting for more information before answering questions. The Dallas Police Department is also not commenting at this time.
Standoff in Hospital Parking Garage
According to reports, officers pursued Robinson into a hospital parking garage where he remained inside a vehicle and refused to surrender. Police eventually deployed tear gas to force him out of the car.
Authorities say the situation escalated when Robinson allegedly pulled a gun on officers, prompting police to open fire. He died at the scene.
Officials have not released additional details about the confrontation.
Allegations of Police Impersonation
Law enforcement sources said Robinson was wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer and had claimed to be one while operating a business that connected officers with off-duty security work.
The company, reportedly called Off-Duty Police Services, was described as an online platform designed to link North Texas police officers with outside security jobs.
Investigators also say Robinson drove a replica undercover police vehicle and used license plates allegedly stolen from vehicles parked outside a military recruiting office.
Ties to Crockett’s Security Team
Sources told local media that Robinson had recently worked as part of Crockett’s security detail during public appearances and campaign events, including during her run for a U.S. Senate seat.
Documents obtained by reporters show a person identified as Robinson receiving payments for security services connected to the congresswoman as recently as last year.
Images circulating online and in news reports show Robinson standing close to Crockett during public events, raising questions about how he obtained such a high-level security role.
Questions Remain
Diamon-Mazairre Robinson’s background—including reports of a prior criminal history—has prompted scrutiny over how he was able to manage security operations and allegedly oversee off-duty police work while also serving on a congressional security team.
Authorities have not released further information about the investigation, and the Dallas Police Department has declined to comment beyond confirming the fatal officer-involved shooting.
Meanwhile, Crockett has not publicly responded to the incident, leaving unanswered questions about the hiring or vetting of individuals responsible for her personal security.
