As President Donald Trump reaches the 100-day mark of his second term, U.S. Representative Shontel Brown (D-OH) issued a sharp rebuke of the administration’s record, calling it “100 days of chaos, cruelty, and cuts — with nothing to lower prices.”
The message, posted on her official Instagram account, was accompanied by a scathing video outlining her concerns about the direction of the country under Trump’s renewed leadership.
Brown criticized the administration for what she described as economic sabotage, harmful policy reversals, and a blatant disregard for public safety and civil rights.
“Am I the only one who remembers Donald Trump promised that on day one he’d lower the cost of goods?” Brown asked in the video. “Well, it’s been 100 days. So let’s break down what he’s actually done.”

The Congresswoman from Northeast Ohio detailed a litany of grievances:
- Economic Instability: Accusing Trump of tanking the economy and raising prices, she pointed to the consequences of what she called a “reckless trade war” that has worsened inflation and edged the country closer to a recession.
- Public Safety and Health Cuts: Brown noted severe funding rollbacks to key government programs, including those dedicated to medical research, food and drug safety, gun violence prevention, and combating domestic terrorism and hate crimes.
- Civil Rights and Diversity Setbacks: She highlighted the repeal of anti-discrimination laws and the firing of military leaders who supported diversity, replaced by “unqualified loyalists.”
- Lack of Legislative Progress: Brown also noted that “Trump and his allies passed zero — nada — nothing. I repeat, zero bills to help working families,” arguing that the current Congress has passed the fewest bills in decades.
The Congresswoman also condemned Trump’s decision to pardon individuals involved in the January 6 insurrection and alleged broader lawlessness by the former president.
“After 100 days of this chaos, cruelty, and cuts, Northeast Ohio, I’m curious — on a scale of 1 to 10, one being the worst and 10 being the best, how would you rate Trump’s first 100 days?” Brown asked her followers in closing.
Context: A Divided Nation at 100 Days
President Trump’s second term has been marked by intense political division, a rollback of various Biden-era policies, and the aggressive implementation of proposals outlined in the controversial Project 2025 agenda.
The administration has drawn sharp criticism from civil rights groups, progressive lawmakers, and international allies for its rapid and often unilateral policy reversals.
Brown’s remarks add to a growing chorus of Democratic voices warning that the administration’s priorities pose a threat to working families, marginalized communities, and the rule of law.
