Sexyy Red’s performance at a music festival this weekend sparked a storm of reactions from fans on social media as a massive Donald Trump MAGA-inspired hat took center stage.

Sexyy Red says she isn’t interested in endorsing any candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election after facing backlash for reworking Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, videos of that performance and the enormous MAGA hat accompanying her on stage have gone viral, and fans are taking offense at the 26-year-old.

The hat was identical in font and style to the controversial “Make America Great Again” caps that became well-known thanks to Donald Trump. The caps are now associated with racism and anti-Black sentiment. Many people assumed that Sexyy used this to publicly endorse the troubled candidate because of her prior support for Trump.

Sexyy Red has made no secret of her admiration for Trump’s political abilities. When she appeared on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, she revealed that she wanted him to run for president again in 2023.

“I like Trump,” Sexyy Red said at the time. “Yeah, they support him in the hood. At first, I don’t think people was f**king with him. They thought he was racist, saying little s**t against women. But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money. Awe, baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office.”

After fans began to interpret her giant red hat that read, “Make American Sexyy Again,” as support for the former president, Sexyy clarified her stance on X.

“It’s Sexyy Red 4 President. I’m my own candidate. I’m not endorsing anybody, period,” the rapper wrote on her official handle.

In his criminal case concerning hush money, Trump was recently found guilty on 34 counts of felonies.
