A Georgia family is reeling from an unimaginable double tragedy after 20-year-old Tee’Andrick Lawson was found dead under suspicious circumstances—and his mother, Tasha Lawson, 48, died just 11 days later, which loved ones say was from “sheer heartbreak.”
Tee’Andrick’s body was discovered in a bedroom of the home he shared with his mother. While the Ware County Coroner listed Tasha’s death as natural causes, her devastated relatives say the grief of losing her son was simply too much for her to endure.
“Their bond was deep and unbreakable — best friends who did everything together,” said Terreona Harrison, Tasha’s daughter, who also launched a GoFundMe to support the family. “This double loss has left our family shattered.”
According to People, family members believe Tee’Andrick was murdered in a hate crime, alleging he was killed by intruders while staying at his mother’s home. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Hazlehurst Police Department are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Tasha’s death came just days after her son’s passing. Her daughter, Harrison, took to social media to share the depths of her grief:
“Y’all wouldn’t understand the pain of losing a child… you motherf—ers will never understand the pain of watching a parent go through pain and stress wondering what happened to their child,” she wrote.
The pain echoes a tragic family history. A cousin, DeAsia Mackey, noted in a Facebook post that the family had seen similar heartbreak before:
“In November 2009, we lost our great-grandmother after losing our grandmother … same way, heartbreak. It’s real.”
Stephanie Green, Tasha’s sister, voiced the family’s demand for answers and accountability, stating:
“The only thing I need help with is making sure my nephew’s killer experiences the same pain my nephew and sister felt. Until justice is served, ain’t nobody talking ‘bout NATHIN!!!!!”
The fundraiser page described Tee’Andrick and Tasha as inseparable and asked for support for Tasha’s four surviving children, now left to grapple with unimaginable loss.
The investigation remains active, and the family continues to push for justice while navigating grief that spans generations.
