Summer Walker is officially back on the market, folks! The “Over It” singer took to her Instagram Story early this morning to drop the news that she and rapper Rico Recklezz have called it quits.
But don’t expect any messy drama here because Summer is handling this breakup with a surprising level of maturity and a clear message that she’s kind of over men for now!
“Yes, I’m single, but don’t be weird now, all,” Summer wrote, keeping it short and to the point. She went on to express her continued affection for Rico, calling him her “Pumpkin for life” and acknowledging that he’s “a sweet man when he wants to be.” However, she explained that, ultimately, their relationship didn’t align due to them being from “two different worlds.”
“I can’t even think about fuckin w another man,” she continued. “I love Rico. He really is a sweet man when he wants to be… that’s my Pumkin for life, things just didn’t align how we wanted cause we from two different worlds. Let’s move on now and not create false narratives.”
But Summer didn’t stop there. In a second Instagram Story, she really laid it all out. “I’m literally honestly & truly over men like that’s it for me,” she declared. “I find more peace in being alone, but let’s normalize moving on without mess.”
She even emphasized that there’s “no disrespect. No hard feelings. No bad-mouthing each other. Everything copestetic [sic] on my end, it’s all lessons n love.”
Interestingly, just a few months ago, back in March, Summer was all praises for Rico, gushing about how he always goes above and beyond for her. “When I ask this man to do something for me, he gon’ do it the best, the biggest way he motherfucking can. He don’t never go small,” she wrote in an appreciative Instagram post.
Rico Recklezz is just the latest in Summer’s list of high-profile relationships, which includes Lil Meech, Lvrd Pharaoh (with whom she shares twin boys), and London On Da Track (the father of her daughter).
For now, it looks like Summer is focusing on her music, as the backdrop of her announcement was a photo from the studio, where she thanked Playboi Carti for adding a “great finishing touch” to her upcoming album. It seems like while one chapter closes, another one filled with music and self-discovery is just beginning for Summer Walker.
