Breonna Taylor’s Family to Hold Friday Press Conference

The family of Breonna Taylor will be holding a press conference Friday, September 25, to address the outcome of the Kentucky Attorney General’s decision not to indict the officers involved in the killing of Breonna Taylor.

The Taylor family will have a press conference Friday morning at Jefferson Square Park at 10:30 a.m. to respond to the grand jury’s decision.

Louisville’s Black Lives Matter chapter released the statement declaring their demands haven’t changed following Wednesday’s indictment.

“We will no longer be silent or complicit to the injustices perpetuated in the name of white supremacy,” the group’s statement said per the Courier-Journal. “Today, and for all the days to come, we will continue to demand justice, seek accountability, and fight for real change. The kind of change our city truly needs will only be possible when we fully invest in our people and divest from and defund the police.”

Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, broke her silence on social media to post a touching tribute to her daughter.

“It’s still Breonna Taylor for me,” Palmer wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday afternoon, along with three heart emojis and the hashtag, “#ThesystemfailedBreonna.”

Palmer’s attorney, Benjamin Crump, called the decision to charge only one officer — Brett Hankinson, with wanton endangerment, but not with causing her death, is “outrageous” and “offensive.”

Palmer made a brief appearance at the demonstrations last night to attend a memorial to her daughter.

Palmer wore a black satin “Until Freedom” jacket over a white T-shirt with a picture of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, with the words “Mitch Bitch,” emblazoned across her chest.
