Iman Shumpert claims that Teyana Taylor earns almost twice as much as him each month, or at least that’s what he tells the judge presiding over their divorce.
Iman Shumpert’s latest legal move is intensifying the already heated accusations of jealousy against him, adding a new layer of drama to their divorce proceedings.
The retired NBA star wants to change his child support agreement with Teyana Taylor, his soon-to-be ex-wife, a move that could potentially disrupt the stability and comfort of their children’s lives.
According to TMZ, on Thursday, the 33-year-old former NBA player submitted new court documents requesting an adjustment because of a pay disparity between the 33-year-old singer and actress.
Based on Iman’s accounting, Teyana’s gross monthly income before taxes is $93,885, almost twice as much as the $47,981 he claims to make each month, a significant income disparity that is putting a strain on his financial situation.
He said that although he is happy to pay the $8,000 in child support each month, he would prefer to share the cost of their children’s health care outside of “major” medical expenses.
The reported salary disparity in this case is intriguing. Recall that Teyana claimed Iman was jealous of her celebrity and insecure when she secretly filed for divorce, even though Shumpert made far more money in the NBA than she could have imagined from her music career.
Teyana also noted in the legal filing last year that her ex was jealous of her fame and asked her not to work, only to complain that she wasn’t bringing in enough money for their family.
Taylor claimed in January that Shumpert had abandoned her, leaving her “holding the bag on $200K worth of home renovations.” Taylor allegedly charged Shumpert at the time of not having paid “a cent of child support.”
Throughout his NBA career, Shumpert earned a significant sum of money, signing contracts worth $48 million with different teams. But since the 2021 season, he hasn’t participated in any professional games.
Teyana Taylor ended her seven-year marriage to Iman Shumpert, alleging that there were instances of cruel treatment.
